# Check a token before you trade

> Who holds it, how it launched, and whether anyone can sell.

Before you buy a token, find out who holds it, how it launched and whether anyone can sell it. Blitzscan reads the contract and the trading history and shows you the evidence. The verdict stays with you.

## What Blitzscan checks

<Frame caption="The six checks of a token review: owner powers, upgrades, verified source, liquidity, holder concentration, and sells against buys">

| Check | What it tells you |
| - | - |
| **Owner powers** | Who can mint, pause, block wallets or change fees, and whether that power was given up. |
| **Upgrades** | Whether the code can be replaced, and who can replace it. |
| **Verified source** | Whether the published source matches the deployed contract. |
| **Liquidity** | Where the token trades, how deep the pools are, and whether the liquidity is locked. |
| **Holder concentration** | How much of the supply the top holders have. Pools and vaults are marked, because they hold for other people. |
| **Sells against buys** | Whether wallets other than the deployer sold. A token that many buy and nobody sells is a warning sign. |

## How to do it

<Steps>
  <Step title="Name the token exactly">
    Type `$` and pick the token from the list. Many tokens share a symbol, so check for the **LOOK-ALIKE** and **SHARED SYMBOL** chips. You can also paste the contract address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Ask for the review">
    Ask "Is \$TOKEN safe to buy?" or "Has anyone been able to sell it?". Blitzscan researches the contract and the trades step by step. This takes about a minute.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the evidence">
    Each finding cites its source. Open the sources to see the transactions and the contract on the explorer.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Look at the launch">
    Ask a follow-up: "Who bought it in its first blocks?", "Was the launch bundled?" or "How long did the first buyers hold before selling?".
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Blitzscan never calls a token safe. It shows what it found and the evidence behind it. A clean review is not a guarantee: check the sources, and do not trade more than you can lose.
