# Understand a transaction

> A transaction taken apart party by party.

Paste a transaction hash and ask what happened. Blitzscan takes the transaction apart party by party: who sent what to whom, through which contracts, and what each party gained or lost.

<Frame caption="A transaction explained: the call path, the token flow and the net change for each party">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/canopy-41411cea/rSGtPiL22Ydf6SvJ/images/uc-transaction.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=rSGtPiL22Ydf6SvJ&q=85&s=73595130ab0e808c8ac6757deac6b511" alt="A transaction explained: the call path, the token flow and the net change for each party" width="1584" height="2600" data-path="images/uc-transaction.png" />
</Frame>

## What you get

<Frame caption="A swap through two pools: the wallet sends USDG to a router, the router trades through two pools, and the wallet receives the token. A bar shows each party's net change">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/canopy-41411cea/rSGtPiL22Ydf6SvJ/images/diagram-tx-anatomy.svg?fit=max&auto=format&n=rSGtPiL22Ydf6SvJ&q=85&s=ebe31013e17c5df685cb351f52e48961" alt="A swap through two pools: the wallet sends USDG to a router, the router trades through two pools, and the wallet receives the token. </Frame>

* **The pattern, when Blitzscan knows it.** For example: a swap through several pools, a liquidation or an arbitrage.
* **The token flow.** Every transfer in the transaction, in order, with amounts and US dollar values.
* **The net change for each party.** What each wallet and contract has after the transaction, compared with before.
* **Names, not only addresses.** Known routers, pools and protocols show their names and a chip.

## How to do it

<Steps>
  <Step title="Paste the full hash">
    Paste the transaction hash (`0x` and 64 characters) and ask "What did this transaction do?". Short forms such as `0x7a4f…2b91` cannot be looked up.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the summary first">
    The first lines say what happened in plain words. The visual under it shows the parties and the money flow.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Go one level deeper">
    Click a wallet or a contract in the visual to ask about it next. Or ask a follow-up: "Who is the sender?" or "What else did this wallet do that day?".
  </Step>
</Steps>

  <Card title="A whole block" icon="cube" href="https://app.blitzscan.ai/?q=What%20is%20in%20block%2070000000%3F">

    "What are the largest trades by meme coin whales on Robinhood Chain?"
  </Card>

  <Card title="The last day" icon="clock" href="https://app.blitzscan.ai/?q=What%20happened%20on%20Robinhood%20Chain%20in%20the%20last%2024%20hours%3F">

  </Card>

  <Card title="Any transaction" icon="magnifying-glass">
    Paste a full transaction hash and ask "What did this transaction do?"
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

<Note>
  Blitzscan decodes transfers, swaps, price feeds and the protocols it knows. For other contracts it shows the calls and transfers but cannot always name the action.
